SWTCH Chargers can be Private - Shared, Private - Individual or Public.
They can also differ in usage rate and billing structure, depending on what the charger owner defines.
Here are the different usage rates that a SWTCH Charger can be configured to bill:
- Hourly - Customers are billed according to how long the vehicle is charging for. There are different ways for this to be implemented.
- Fixed Hourly - the rate will not change, whether the charging session last 1 hour or 5 hours. Example: $2/hr
- Variable Hourly: the rate will change depending on how long the session lasts. Example: $1/hr for first 3 hours, $4/hr after thereafter
- Fixed with loitering penalties: Loitering penalties are designed to ensure that once a vehicle is done charging, it does not remain in the EV charging space, preventing others from charging. Example: $1/hr, loitering penalty of $10/hr while not actively charging (status-based) OR $1/hour + $5/hour loitering after 30 minutes
- Per kWh - Customers are billed according to how much power they receive. Example: $0.5/kWh. Please note that loitering charges may still apply once the vehicle is done charging.
- Time of day - Customer are billed according to what time they charge. This can be applied for both hourly and wattage based. Example: 12am-5:59am > $0.26/kWh; 6am-3:59pm > $0.42 /kWh; OR 4pm-8:59pm > $0.67/kWh; 9pm-11:59pm > 0.60/hr 9pm to 9am, $2.20/hr 9am to 9pm.
Customers can display the usage rate and billing method both on the SWTCH Website and the SWTCH App.
On the SWTCH app:

Open the app.

Enter the Charger ID. The charger ID is listed directly on the charger.
The price is listed at the end of the listing, under the Type and the Address.
On the SWTCH website:

Open the website.

Enter the Charger ID. The charger ID is listed directly on the charger.
The price is listed on the bottom left, above the status of the charger.
