Registering or activating a charger is typically performed upon the completion of the commissioning process and the onboarding of the property owners.
If a charger was recently installed at a location and the charger status in the SWTCH application or web application is "activating" and requests an "access code", there are two possible explanations: either the charger is still undergoing the commissioning process, or it is ready for "driver activation."
"Driver activation" means the assigned driver for the private charger can now contact SWTCH for the activation process. To know if the charger is ready for "Driver activation" check for an email from SWTCH or the your Property management. You can also contact our support lines to know if the charger is ready for "driver activation".
Here are the steps to take if you want to activate a charger .
- Please record the charger ID of the charger assigned to you. This is crucial to ensure you do not inadvertently activate another tenant's charger. The assignment of chargers is managed by property management, so you may confirm the details with them if there is any uncertainty. If you are renting an apartment in the building, please ensure that the owner has verified the assignment of the charger.
- Please contact SWTCH support to inform them of your intention to activate the charger. You may reach out via chat, email, or phone.
- SWTCH support personnel will inform you about the monthly subscription fee, hourly usage rate and the network management payment status. You will then be sent an email about the subscription details so we can get a written confirmation from you.
- Reply to the email for your confirmation. Once we receive your confirmation email, we will create your subscription, activate the charger and add you to the authorized users list. If you want to allow another person to use the charger, please provide the email address associated to their SWTCH account so we can add them to the authorized users list.
