OCPP configuration and commissioning errors
- The OCPP Central System URL for SWTCH chargers is wss://entry.swtchenergy.com (wss://entry.swtchenergy.com/). Ensure there are no spaces before or after the URL when entering it in the charger's OCPP settings, and save the changes. For some chargers, the Message Transport Layer setting must also be set to WSS.
- The commissioning process for SWTCH chargers requires completing the online final commissioning form before the appointment. The process includes: 1) filling out the form with site and charger details, 2) scheduling a call with the Deployment team, 3) confirming the chargers are connected to the Internet with sufficient signal strength, and 4) running a test transaction on each unit using a level 2 tester or EV. If a tester or vehicle is not available, SWTCH has alternative methods to confirm charger functionality.
- If a charger is not connecting to the backend after OCPP URL changes, verify that the charger is connected to the local network with Internet access, confirm the OCPP URL and Message Transport Layer settings, and reboot the charger. If the charger still does not appear online, check and provide the serial number to support for backend verification.
- For commissioning or OCPP configuration, if the charger supports it, you can connect to the charger either via its local WiFi hotspot or by using an ethernet cable to access the charger's interface. Once connected, update the WiFi settings and OCPP parameters as required.
- If the charger is not reading the SIM card or cannot connect to the network, try another SIM card or contact the manufacturer to check for hardware issues.
- When updating OCPP settings for load management or tenant-specific configurations, use the provided tenant-specific OCPP URL (e.g., ws://evidect.swtchenergy.com/tenant_3776_1_2/1500-Westside-Road-S-Kelowna-BC or ws://ocpp.swtchev.com/1500-Westside-Road-S-Kelowna-BC) as directed by support.
Firmware update requests and version mismatches
- Firmware version compatibility between the charger and integrated payment or backend systems must be verified to ensure stable operation; mismatched firmware versions can cause errors or unexpected behavior.
- When a firmware update is requested or required, the support team will update the charger to the latest available firmware version as soon as it becomes accessible, and will notify the requester once the update is complete.
- If the correct firmware version is not available at the time of the request, the support team will inform the requester and perform the update as soon as the firmware becomes accessible.
